Andrew’s career in the real estate industry began in the 80’s while managing construction, sales and leasing of condominiums and apartments in the Madison, Wisconsin area. After moving to Illinois in 1994, he progressed through the ranks at a mid-sized, Chicago area development company ultimately managing land development, construction management, sales and service of single and multi-family homes in communities throughout the area.

He has participated in thousands of home inspections, walk-throughs, and customer service inspections on both sides of the equation, and has also developed custom homes through his own company in the North suburbs of Deerfield and Lake Forest, as well as numerous condominium remodeling projects in Chicago high-rise buildings. He currently sits as a condominium association board member of a 131 unit Chicago high-rise building in the Streeterville neighborhood helping provide a well-rounded perspective in client relations.

Andrew’s emphasis in customer relations and satisfaction is through a hands-on and unwavering dedication to client success.

Solid home inspectors usually become so by accident and Ross is no different. A lifelong Chicagoan, his journey started in the late 90’s working for a master carpenter and skilled general contractor in South Carolina before returning to Chicago in 1999. Since that time, he’s renovated nearly 20 homes before helping build his own in 2005.

Along the way, he’s completed curricula through RESNET, Building Performance Institute, and National Comfort Institute (HVAC); become a Level 1 Thermographer, a HAAG certified residential and commercial roof consultant, DCW Engineering commercial inspector, Roof Consultants Institute, voting member of the American Society for Testing & Materials, and a panelist for Chicago Bungalow Association; appeared on the Science Channel’s Strip the City, WBBM Radio, and WGN News; and given numerous moisture intrusion and HOA presentations locally. He’s performed well over 5,000 inspections since 2007 and helps keep the CBI team as sharp as possible.

Son of a carpenter contractor, Jonathan grew up helping his father (as early as 5 years old), working full time on vacations and summer breaks and after high school, building houses, additions and general remodeling. During his construction career Jonathan focused on energy efficiency and safety, leading him in to a career change into the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) field. For over 40 years Jonathan has grown a successful HVAC business in the North Shore suburbs and is passing the business on to his daughter and son-in-law.

While in the HVAC and construction industries, Jonathan has helped hundreds of clients improve the health of their homes, improve the safety and comfort all while reducing energy consumption. As an HVAC contractor, his company worked with all aspects of construction, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, safety, comfort, indoor air quality, electric, plumbing, insulation and building construction.

The transition to home inspector is a natural progression. The experience in the construction industry over a lifetime has helped his understanding and expertise in the building as a system, not just individual parts. His goal has always been to help the client. He grew his business by word of mouth and great customer service. Now his goal as an inspector is to help home owners and business owners make the best decision on purchasing their next home or building.

Jonathan’s personal interests (beyond Building Science): Woodworking, Cycling, Hiking, Sailing, Kayaking, Camping and just about everything outdoors.

Andrew is a dedicated professional with a unique blend of skills and experiences. With 14 years of valuable experience as a home insurance agent, he brings an in-depth understanding of property-related matters and a keen eye for detail. Andrew has joined the SFBI team to transition into a new role as a home inspector, combining his insurance expertise with a passion for ensuring the safety and integrity of homes.

Andrew’s journey has been defined by a commitment to precision and an eagerness to leverage his skills to contribute to the field of home inspection. His unique perspective and comprehensive knowledge will make him a valuable asset to the SFBI team.
